How to have your metabolism functioning well with just two easy steps.
1. Reduce Calorie Intake and Increase Physical Activity
While you don’t have much control over the speed of your basal metabolism, you can control how many calories you burn through your level of physical activity. The more active you are, the more calories you burn. Try reducing the number of calories consumed daily and increasing your daily physical activity. Combining the two has the potential to boost metabolism, burning calories and leading to weight loss and better overall health.
2. Don’t Skip Meals
Avoid skipping meals when trying to loose weight. Your body can begin to store fat and calories when meals are skipped, thinking that it will need it for later. It may be more beneficial to eat several small healthy meals throughout the day to keep your body busy processing. Avoid skipping breakfast, in particular as your body has already been without food for several hours when you wake up in the morning. Depriving it further will not help your metabolic rate.
Tip – Ask your doctor for a Thyroid Function Test (blood test to help check the function of the thyroid gland). They are mainly used to detect hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).
